Maternity Event | A Pea In The Pod Rice Village

Since moving back to Houston, we’ve been excited about connecting with local businesses that serve the same group of clients we do. We especially love working with local businesses that share our passion for providing a great client experience.

We were already familiar with A Pea in the Pod as a brand, moms-to-be rave about their stylish maternity wear. The Rice Village location is a little bit special though.

A small store with a boutique feel, it’s managed by Laura Elton who works with a friendly team who treat their loyal customers more like close friends than customers. Take some time to browse the range of designers they stock (Envie de Fraise, Monrow, LED...) and you’ll hear the warm welcome everyone receives. You'll quickly realize anyone not already on a first-name basis has just found their new favorite maternity clothing store.

Maternity Clothing Store Event

I reached out to Laura and we chatted about ideas for an event for our mutual clients. We came up with the idea of a VIP maternity event, where moms-to-be could try out the range of maternity clothes and get a baby pump photo at the same time.

One of the things we love most about these community events is the opportunity to bring people together. Building a great support network with other moms is so valuable! Our aim was to have the event as an informal, friendly get together, rather than focus on education.

The event was a great success for connecting loyal customers, and clients got to chat whilst enjoying a selection of amazing cakes from FLO Paris. If you've not tried any of the delicious creations from FLO yet, you need to add it to your brunch/coffee to-do list.

Beautique Day Spa &  Salon and The Boardroom Salon for Men both donated generous gift certificates for the event and Laura offered up a diaper bag courtesy of A Pea In The Pod.

Here are a few of the mothers-to-be that we enjoyed photographing.

Style Advice for New Moms

Store Manager Laura has worked at A Pea in The Pod for 15 years. She loves being able to help women choose stylish clothes at this special time. It's about dressing to feel good as well as for comfort. This is an important thing to consider before your maternity shoot, as it will help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. It's great to have a professional to help guide you when trying to decide what looks good and what fits properly.

Maternity Clothing Tips for your Photo Shoot

Laura's advice is helpful to keep in mind for maternity photos too; what you wear will influence how confident you feel. I've added a few tips below to help you get the most out of your shoot:

1. Choose bold colors.

2. Avoid busy patterns.

3. Fitted clothing is best, it helps show off that beautiful baby bump.

4. Dress in YOUR style!

5. And as always, when in doubt ask a professional.
