Holiday Family Photos

The holiday season makes for a great time to get family photos made. The season is merry and bright, you’re a little more forgiving of your children’s craziness, and you need holiday gifts for the grandparents. It’s the busiest time of year for portrait photographers too. So we’ve come up with a few suggestions for getting your family photos done. Hopefully this will help make it less stressful!

Book Now!

Book your photographer as soon as possible. I know it’s hard to think about the holidays when it’s barely fall and it’s hot outside, and you just got the kids ready for their first day school, but you will thank yourself later. You will have one less thing to do on your never ending list. Not only might your photographer be in such high demand at this time of year but they also have to prepare for their own family activities and might only have very limited availability. Booking early with give you plenty of time to plan outfits and reschedule should someone get sick. This will also allow you to get your photos in time to hang on the wall, give as gifts, or send out cards. Depending on what you order it could take a few weeks for your photos to come in.

Wardrobe

It’s important to think about the style you’re looking for. Do you want to dress seasonally (sweaters, warm toned colors, dressy)? Or do you want timeless images that can be hung all year long (dressy casual, neutral tones)? For your consultation we will help you decide which style would be best for your needs and help you pick out clothes that would best fit that style. Either by raiding your closet or helping you shop.

Prints, Cards, Wall Art

It’s best to know a head of time which products you’d like to purchase. This time of year is great to order products for loved one’s gifts. Holiday cards are also very popular. And don’t forget about yourselves. Beautifully hung portraits of the family or looking at your photo album cuddled with the kids on the couch can make a home feel more cozy during the holidays.

Bonus

One last bonus tip is to bring snacks to your photo shoot. The kids will be in much better moods if they aren’t “starving”.

The holidays are coming and we are excited to see how big the kids have gotten and everyone dressed in their best!
